i’m not much for retro gaming critics (outside of James Rolfe and a select few). So it’s rare that i’ll watch a “let’s play” or a review of a classic title. It’s all been done before. It’s been that way since 2007. Then there’s Pavel Grinev a.k.a Kinaman.

Kinaman is a Russian fellow who brings a whole new flavor to the whole “angry gamer” review style. Kinaman reviews bootleg games on a Dendy, a Famicom/NES clone made specifically for Russian market. Since the original Nintendo was never made available in Russia, the Dendy was what Russian gamers had to play. Since it was unlicensed, they seen ALOT of bootleg games and bad game hacks. 

He has a series called “Dendy Chronicles” on Youtube. The episodes are funny, informative and it’s something fresh. There is a language barrier but if you don’t mind reading subtitles, there is an option to turn them on. The first few episodes I watched, he reviews a series of Super Mario Bros. clones and some of the results are downright hilarious. There’s a hack of a Flintstones game with Mario’s head on Fred Flintstone’s body. it only get’s funnier from there.

If you have the time to waste and enjoy retro gaming critics, i’d highly recommend Kinaman’s channel. He has tons of content and let’s play videos all worth giving a watch.
